@UK PLC, the largest e-procurement marketplace serving the UK public sector has gained its first Scottish authority, East Renfrewshire. After evaluating the available options the council choose @UK PLC because of its proven track record in delivering successful Public Sector eProcurement projects. As a unitary authority East Renfrewshire has a large and complex supply chain and needed a solution which was cost effective and flexible enough to allow it to work across all the councils suppliers, from Stationary to Social Services.
East Renfrewshire’s Procurement Manager, Jim Livingstone (pictured) said “Like all Local Authorities we face a dilemma. We have to cut out paperwork and save money. But if we only bought from big companies that already sell online it would cut off our local suppliers, and these are the lifeblood of our community. @UK’s solution solves this dilemma by providing eCommerce to local firms enabling them to deal with us electronically. We are very pleased to have engaged @UK to help us”.
@UK Managing Director Lyn Duncan said “As a Scot myself, I am thrilled at the opportunity of working with our first Scottish authority and am especially pleased that it is with an innovative and forward thinking organisation like East Renfrewshire. Our work with the council over the coming months will see us recruiting a Supplier Adoption Officer to the project who will support the council in maximising the number of suppliers available via the marketplace and will help its local suppliers set up trading websites on @UK. For one low annual fee these firms can then sell to any council on our network, but also to other businesses and even consumers nationwide. Building on the local experience, I am looking forward to extending and developing our presence in Scotland”.
