On Tuesday night @UK Chief Executive Lyn Duncan presented the prestigious Municipal Journal e-procurement award to Wakefield Borough Council at a ceremony in Park Lane, London. Wakefield BC has been a long time active supporter of raising efficiency and reducing costs through secure electronic trading, and has always endeavored to include local suppliers as well as large national suppliers in all their work at raising awareness.
Alan Kirkham, Head of Partnering and Procurement at Wakefield BC said “It is very important that the entire UK supplier base thinks about the implications of the new way of trading that is now taking hold. Firms must understand not only the threat to them if they fail to become e-enabled, but also the scale of the opportunity open to them if they do. Seizing this chance with both hands can not only make their whole business more efficient, but also open up new potential business in local authorities, schools, hospitals and other businesses nationwide. Myself and my team are thrilled to win this award”.
