@UK admitted to BESA

@Schools, the specially tailored marketplace for education operated by @UK PLC has been admitted to the British Educational Suppliers Association (BESA). BESA is a highly prestigious organisation containing the largest and most influential companies within the £2Bn market for goods and services into education; companies such as BT, Apple, Microsoft and Capita Education Services. Application for membership involved a lengthy examination of the size, capabilities and financial stability of @UK PLC. @Schools is the only such body which has been admitted to BESA.

Dudley George, Marketing Director of @UK PLC said “We are absolutely delighted. Although application was a protracted process, all the effort has been worth it. We are now in an even stronger position to demonstrate real benefits to both schools and colleges and their thousands of suppliers. Paperless ordering and invoicing offers a real opportunity for a “win win” as buyers and suppliers share the reduced time and cost of procurement, and @Schools is fast becoming the centre of this whole process. We are for example the only organisation able to link all a school’s suppliers directly to their SIMS FMS TM back-office administration system, cutting out all need for paper requisitions.

BESA is heavily involved in major national events such as the BETT show in Olympia and the Education Show in the NEC that attract many hundreds of suppliers and tens of thousands of school staff. We now achieve special status in respect of both those shows. BESA also operates a number of officially-supported export missions to all parts of the world, and @UK will also be eligible to join these”.
