Online payments

Taking orders online can mean big cost savings for your business or organisation.

You can take payments through your @UK site by cheque or account as standard, but in order to take online credit and debit card payments through your @UK website you require two things:

1. Internet Merchant Account
An IMA can be set up with a bank or Internet company and is an agreement to allow a business to accept credit / debit card payments. This type of account is separate from your normal business account.

2. Payment Service Provider
A PSP or payment gateway is a service which ensures customer credit / debit card details are passed securely from your website to the bank (or company) where your IMA is held. From here, the PSP then passes these details to the card holder's bank to authorise payment. PSP services are offered by both banks and internet companies.

The payment process

Understanding the online payment process can be confusing. Below is a simple diagram of how an @UK website accepts credit and debit card payments, once an IMA and a payment gateway has been set up.

Step 1 - Customers go to your @UK website, select the products and services they would like to purchase and enter their credit or debit card details.
Step 2 - Your @UK website securely captures these details and is collected by a PSP.
Step 3 - The PSP then passes the card details to the bank where your IMA is held. From here, the PSP then passes these details to the card holders bank to authorise payment.
Step 4 - The payment is deposited into your Internet Merchant Account.

@UK SiteGenerator websites currently support the following PSP’s, some of whom will also set up the IMA for you...

	Protx VSP Direct	APPLY	You'll need the VSP Direct account. Will connect to your Lloyds TSB CardNet, HSBC, Bank of Scotland account.
			The Royal Bank of Scotland Group/MOTO service is no longer supported. If you have an RBS account, then you should contact Worldpay for details of how to integrate with your account.
	Worldpay Select Junior – Invisible		Please contact us if you would like to use Worldpay to take card payments.
	HSBC Secure ePayments API	MORE DETAILS	You will need to use their Secure ePayments API You will need to create a merchant account that takes transactions via MPI Please note that @UK PLC do not integrate with CPI. After a successful application, you will receive account details that you can enter into our system and then start taking online payments.

Paypal is also an option with @UK, but whilst we are working on full integration, our basket is not fully linked to use Paypal as a payment method. Your site will show Paypal buy buttons which link to Paypal, bypassing the @UK Basket. Please contact us if you'd like to set up paypal as your payment provider.
