Most of our customers who are unsure of the Company Name they would like for their business tend to go with one of the following two ideas:

• Brand: choose a short, easy to remember name. You would expect this name to catch people's attention.
• Descriptive: a name that does what it says on the tin. Potential customers could easily understand what your business is about by simply reading your name, for example, Pilates4U.

You are very free to choose any name for your company, providing you respect the following rules:

• Unique name. The name you choose to register with Companies House needs to be unique and not have been previously registered by someone else.
• Not Offensive. The chosen words are not allowed to be offensive.
• Sensitive words. There are a number of sensitive words such as Nurse or Architect that you are allowed to use providing you apply to register reserved words and meet all the necessary requirements.

• Availability
• Reasons a name may be rejected by Companies House
• Associated Domain names availability. It is important to ensure that the domain name for your company name is available should you wish to trade online or simply have a Company website.
